Child Care Providers

Child care providers play such an important role helping to shape our children into the adults they will become.

Through ELRC, child care professionals can obtain valuable support and resources.

Child care providers may receive ELRC payments if they are a certified care provider or a blood relative of the child that needs care.


FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS BY CHILD CARE PROVIDERS

Question:
Who can be a Relative Provider?

Answer:
A relative to the child and/or children such as:
    • Great Grandparents
    • Grandparents
    • Aunt
    • Uncle
    • A sibling 18 years of age or older

What are the steps to becoming a Relative Provider?

Answer:
1. A parent needs to request you and report it to their case manager.

2. The Relative Provider will receive a packet to complete their finger prints and Mandated Reporter Training.

3. Complete the Mandated Reporter Training and finger prints.

4. Call our office to set up a time and date to come in and sign an agreement.

5. When a provider comes in for their appointment, they need to bring the follow:
       • Original Finger Prints
       • Mandated Reporter Training Certificate
       • Photo ID
       • Social Security Card
       • Phone Bill (does not need to be in your name, but phone number needs to be on bill)

Answer:
Provider Self-Service using Pelican offers tools to save you time, money and paper. Access Pelican for quick links to:
    • Pre-K Counts
    • Access to PA Keys website
    • Online attendance invoicing for subsidized children
    • Ability to update information regarding your center (closures, rates, hours and etc)
    • Child Care licensing renewals

Call DHS at 800-222-2149 or visit www.pelican.state.pa.us/provider

When are invoices due?

Answer:
Please wait until the end of the month to sign and date invoices. Return invoices to the ELRC by the 5th of the following month. A child care provider may:
    • US Postal Service Mail - 4893 State Route 30, Greensburg PA, 15601
    • Drop off
    • FAX (724-836-5415)
    • Email them to ELRCRegion4@pa.gov.



Question:
How does a child care provider report lack of attendance?

Answer:
The provider will contact ELRC and ask for their Provider Specialist, 724-836-4580:
    • If a child care provider's business name begins with A - L, contact Josie.
    • If a child care provider's business name begins with M - Z, contact Jennifer.

How does a child care provider get another copy of their clearances?

Answer:
If a child care provider needs another copy of thier clearances they can call:
